Andaman and Nicobar

The Andaman and Nicobar Islands are a union territory of India located in the Bay of Bengal, about 800 miles (1,300 km) east of the Indian subcontinent and Sri Lanka. The islands are made up of 836 islands in two groups: the Andaman Islands in the north and the Nicobar Islands in the south, separated by a 93-mile (150 km) channel. The Andaman Islands are about 6,408 square kilometers in area, while the Nicobar Islands are about 1,841 square kilometers. The capital and largest city of the territory is Port Blair, which is located on South Andaman Island.
